On the 18th February the Toyakwai Karate Association had it first 1 of 5 Championships for 2007 with 44 events 520 competitors and 46 teams from
49 clubs for kata, kumite and team events.Some of the finest competitors In the Country took part in the Junior Cadets and Seniors and many members of the England Squad PLUS AT THAT EVENT the 2006 5 OF THE BEST winners - boys jack hayter, girls Hannah baker, male Akan Eka, female Jodie Morris,  over all winning team s.d.s.m.a. Sean Doyland.

 

Malta International Karate Open 2007

ON 28th February the Witham Karate Club had 2 fighters George Anderson and Joe Anderson was selected were George won 2 Gold Medals and Joe won a Sliver at the Greater London Karate open they become part of a small England squad of juniors and seniors sent to the Mediterranean Karate open in Malta on Saturday 3rd and
Sunday 4th March 2007.

There were 16 Countries 28 Organizations 487 individual Competitors in kata and
kumite and team events of a very good Level. On Saturday was the junior
individual kata events novice to 7th kyu George Anderson won a Sliver
in that event, next was Aimee Sell 9to11yrs 3kyu and above she won a gold,
Alex Sell and Harry Canon was in the same event junior 12 to 15yrs 3kyu and
above Alex Sell won gold and Harry Canon won Sliver, next Jonathan Mottram
won a gold in senior Dan grades And in the senior Ladies Samantha Canon
won a Sliver, Chris Wilson went on to win a gold in Veteran over

45yrs and Mike Wilson got a Bronze in the Veteran over 35 to 44yrs,
next was the free style kata first Alex Sell won a gold and Next Jonathan
Mottram won gold in senior free style kata.

Now it was the Kumite events first up was George Anderson, Kai Awderew,
Charlie Hurley, in boys 10 to 12yrs George Only Just turned 10yrs was the
Smallest in that event and 39 Competitors were he won gold.
Next in the boy’s event 14 to 15yrs We had Alex Sell and Harry Canon in the same
event, and Alex won a sliver. Next was the girls events first was Melissa Wilamson
she done very well and won a Bronze, and now Stephanie Thorndick 14 to 15yrs
4 place and went into the female Cadets with Lauren McCarthy and Keisha Fraser
were Stephanie Thorndick Won a Gold, Keisha Fraser got sliver and Lauren
McCarthy got Bronze in that event now the senior female Lauren McCarthy won
the gold and Last event was Kumite Teams- junior team kumite 15yrs under
1/George Anderson 2/ Charlie Hurley 3/ Alax Sell went on to win a Gold in that
event, then Female Cadet team kumite 16yrs to 19yrs 1/ Stephanie Thorndick
2/ Lauren McCarthy 3/Keisha Fraser also went on to win Gold, last senior team
kumite 1/Rachel Bramley 2/  Keisha Fraser 3/ Lauren McCarthy Won a Bronze in
that event.

Squad

Toyakwai Squad for Seniors Cadets & Juniors well be held once a month, It will be the last Thursday in ever month so there well be 10 squad trainings year. All teams will be selected at squad training you must be 15 year and over. For juniors under 15years if your instructor think you have the experience and the grade. OPEN TO ALL SO COME ALONG AND BE A TEAM. SQUAD DATES are January 5th, February 23rd, March 30th, April 27th, May 25th, June 29th July 27th, THE DATES MAY BE CHANGED IF THERE IS A COMPETITION

In DECEMBER WE WON THE 3ON3 TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THE

 Second Time with the 3 team members all Fighting very well on the night.

Cadet and Junior European Championships

JANUARY

Five members of the Toyakwai Karate Association were selected for the England Team and took part in the Cadet and Junior European Championships in Turkey from the 9th to 11th February 2007.

After several training sessions with the England Squad and compulsory fight offs,

Male Kumite Christopher Blenman,

Akan Eka, Paul Abel,

Female Kumite Jodie Morris, and Female Kata Sam Cannon.

 Fought there way to a place on the squad, earning them the opportunity to compete in Turkey

against some of the

World’s finest kata and kumite competitors.

  SO WE NOW HAVE 7 MEMBERS IN THE ENGLAND

British Karate Open

We sent a small squad to the British open on Saturday & Sunday and we did very well.

On Saturday was the team events

in the

under 16yrs Female we won the gold 1st place

with

 Hannah Baker, Kate Karwacinski, and Chloe Chin

Male under 16 yrs we won a Silver 2nd place

with Harry Cannon, Joe Johnson and

Dominic Maleary,

the last team

 was the senior team kumite and we got

Bronze 3rd in that event with

Paul Abul, Chris Blenman,

and Del Joseph.

 Next was the individual events

Also we had 3 members go to the PARIS KARATE OPEN

on

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st

Alton Brown, Jay Gauci,

and

Sam Cannon, kata  were she got a forth place well done sam.

 


 

TOYAKWAI KARATE SQUAD entered the

FSKA SHOTOKAN KARATE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

On the 13th and 14th October 2007 there were 38 countries and over 2000
individual competitors and 80 teams participated in this event with a further
800+ spectators attending over 2 days the expectations were extremely high.

All expectation were met with the standard of the competitors as many
competitors were from the English Karate Team,
Jon Mottram, Alton Brown, jay Gauci, Akan Eka,Tom Cannon, Tony Anderson,
Joe Mongan, and Sean Doyland.

TOYAKWAI Clubs entered many competitors whom become part of the
TOYAKWAI KARATE ASSOCIATION SQUAD  member were age from 5 years to
40 years doing kata and kumite on the first day was the kata were the
Toyakwai won 11 gold’s plus silver and bronze the next day was the kumite were
we won more medals gold ,silver and bronzes and later on that Day it was the
team events one of the TOYAKWAI teams won a gold in the kata event next the
female team kumite won a gold and the TOYAKWAI male Team won a gold so in
the points the TOYAKWAI become overall champions with 31 GOLDS 11 SILVERS
and 11 BRONZE MEDALS and 3 wining team event GOLDS.

The Coachs on the day done very god Joe Anderson, Jon Mottram, Sean Doyland,
Alton Brown, jay Gauci, Tony Anderson, Dean Simpson, Joe Mongan, and
Leonie Kersey.

Joe Anderson was also award the best coach at the Shotokan world championships
2007
